Living Room With A Study Table

If you live in a small space but want to design a home office following the principles of Feng Shui, read on.

Get rid of the clutter

First and foremost, it is essential to get rid of any clutter if you want good Feng Shui energy to flow freely through your living space. Start with the entrance of your house as it is the main source of energy. Get rid of unwanted furniture and display all your knick-knacks in neat shelves.

Divide your rooms

It is a good idea to divide the living space smartly with room-dividing options. You can use two-three tall plants or place a bookshelf as room dividers while creating your home office within the living room.

Install a big mirror

Mirrors reflect light and create an illusion of a spacious room. A popular Feng Shui technique is to keep it in such a way that you can see the reflection of the outdoor views that can add beauty to the space.

Incorporate the five elements

In Feng Shui, there are five elements namely fire, wood, earth, metal and water. Each of the elements channel a distinct kind of energy. Fire represents passion while wood enhances prosperity. Earth promotes stability, water improves communication while metal enhances focus.

Incorporate the elements based on the energy you want in your living space. You can create the same energy by incorporating the colour of the element in the room too. For instance, if you want a productive home office environment, you could paint the walls grey.

Good lighting

Lighting is one of the ways to create a good Feng Shui energy in your home office. A well-lit work space is important because working in a dark space can be draining. While an abundance of natural light is ideal, the space needs supplementary lighting from lamps as well. Invest in a good desk lamp for your home office.

Incorporate these Feng Shui decorating tips to welcome positive vibes into your home office.

Reiki For December 2022

Hand In Hand

Reiki and Chronic Pain

Placing Hand In Hand

According to the International Association of Reiki Professionals, “chronic pain” is defined as pain that lasts more than three to six months. It can originate from physical as well as mental turmoils. Individuals suffering from chronic pain are prescribed pain medications to get temporary relief from the pain. However, this rarely alleviates the source, and can often interact with other daily prescriptions. This is where Reiki comes into play.

Reiki is a form of energy that is believed to improve the free flow of life-force energy. Although there is limited scientific research to support the benefits of Reiki, many people say that Reiki has helped them manage chronic pain, right from arthritis to migraine. It is also believed to reduce anxiety and depression.

According to a study published in "The International Journal of Behavioral Medicine”, it has been found that Reiki demonstrates “strong evidence” for relieving pain among those suffering from chronic pain.

In general, after receiving Reiki, the participants of the study have reported activation of their energy, stating that it caused relief from their pain, while promoting body relaxation and decreasing anxiety.

In conclusion, after five sessions of Reiki, a marked improvement in complaints of chronic pain was perceived through the reports of the subjects. It also contributed to a balance in the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual needs of the individuals.

You can enhance the Reiki treatment with a conducive environment that has the right colours. If you are performing Reiki in your home, get your home painting done in hues such as sky blue, blush, pale yellow, soft green, tan, deep blue or lilac.

Reiki can be performed with the patient seated or lying down, and begins with the healer gradually scanning his or her body, right from head to toe.

The life force energy flows to the area most in need of healing. The Reiki practitioner then applies light pressure to those zones that need therapeutic treatment, one by one, which is often the head, torso, knees, feet and back to expedite the recovery of the individual.

If you or someone you know is suffering from chronic pain, you can approach a Reiki practitioner to help with recovery.

Creating A Vaastu-Compliant Home!

Interior Green Wall And Green Sofa

We have a couple of easy Vastu tips for home that can help bring some positive changes into your living space!

Wall colour

Some colours are known to infuse positive energy into any living space. As per Vaastu, light green, white, light yellow and blue are the best choices for the living area as they lend tranquillity and create a serene ambiance. You can use just one of these colours or a combination of two colours to maximise positive energy. However, do not use red and black for the living room walls.

Furniture

When picking furniture, pick rectangular pieces instead of circular ones. A modular sofa unit works quite well too. For your coffee tables and side tables, go for rectangular or square shapes. You can choose recliners as well since they promote relaxation.

Plants

It is recommended that you keep the north-east corner of your living room clean as it is believed to attract good fortune. Keep indoor plants but ensure that they are well-maintained and taken care of.

Chandelier

A chandelier adds sophistication and class to any living space. However, ensure that it is not placed in the centre of the room. Install it in the south or west of the room.

Drapes

Hang sheer drapes if your living room windows face north or east from where the sunlight comes in. It is best to use heavy drapes for windows in the south or west. You can also have a single type of drape or use a combination of light and thick drapes.

Artwork

The north-east wall is the best place for wall paintings. Make sure to display beautiful images and avoid pictures that depict anger, frustration, pain, hunger or any kind of negativity. Avoid images of a fountain, waterfall, rain, ocean or aquarium in the bedroom as it can lead to financial issues and emotional and mental problems. The reason behind this is believed to be water, which is an unstable element that creates an unsettled environment at home.

Create a positive sanctuary by following these home décor ideas as per Vaastu principles.
