Colours & Emotion For December 2021

  1. Ever wondered why a lot of Call-to-Action buttons are orange in colour? This is because this hue is believed to enhance a feeling of vitality and joy. Similar to red, it is a colour that easily catches attention and shows an energetic quality. Orange is a more balanced shade and stands for boldness strength and friendliness. It is an inviting colour and is said to increase productivity in the workspace too!

  2. Movies stir up emotions in ways you may not have imagined. Whether it is a certain aesthetic choice made when colouring or filtering during the movie editing process, or the costumes and décor with which the frame is filled, colour can manipulate the emotions of all the viewers at different conscience and subconscious levels. Take for instance film-maker Wes Anderson's compelling use of colour. Hues such as pink, purple, red, yellow, blue, and so much more is seen in his movies. Every frame looks like storybook illustration with such vivid saturation and hues, lending it a surreal quality. Inspired by his canvas? Take cues from his popular movie featuring a bubblegum pink grand hotel and use unexpected pops of colour, pastel palettes and wood paint.

Colours & Fashion For December 2021

Silk Fabric

Tis the season to be jolly so bring out your Christmas sweaters. Speaking of which, have you ever wondered how they came into being? We bet you’ll be surprised to know that they have been in existence since the 1950s featuring Christmas-themed decorations! However, they didn’t really hit the mark as a trend until the ’80s when they started to appear in pop culture. Known as Jingle Bell sweaters in the 1980s, movies and TV shows began dressing their popular characters in them to amuse and make the viewers laugh! By the 1990s, people lost interest in wearing them but they re-emerged in 2001 at a Christmas party in Canada. By 2011, major fashion designers made them a part of their fall collections. In the true spirit of the festivities, you can pay an ode to this sweater with vibrant red emulsion paint on your walls and hang Christmas décor elements like wreaths, baubles and poinsettias.

The birthstone for people born in the month of February, this violet gem can also be worn by anyone who wishes to welcome positive energy into their lives. It is also said to alleviate grief and sadness, dissolving negativity. The meaning of amethyst is associated with trust, understanding and grace. When it comes to its maintenance, similar to powder coating meant to enhance performance, most gemstones like this one are treated with a coating to improve their durability.

  2. Jade

The green gemstone pictured above is known as Jade. These days, this particular gemstone has caught the attention of beauty enthusiasts and celebrities around the world. The jade stone has been used for ages as a way to attract good luck, good energy and good friends. 1. Purple Gallinule

    new painting images

Get ready for some birdwatching! The gorgeous winged creature you see captured by a photographer’s lenses is known as Purple Gallinule. This bird sports a medley of colours with its purplish head and body, greenish wings, yellow-tipped bright red bill, striking yellow legs and feet. Found in the marshes across water lilies in the south-eastern part of the United States, this long-legged bird hunts frogs and invertebrates or picks at tubers. It often uses its feet to hold food while it is eating. An interesting observation about this bird is that it swims on the surface of the water like a duck and walks on floating plants just like a hen!

  2. Indian Pangolin

    latest painting images

Take a look at this creature. Known as the Indian Pangolin, it has tough, protective keratin scales that make it look like a slow-moving pine tree! These scales are used as a defence mechanism against predators and extreme weather conditions. Solitary and nocturnal in nature, it is well-adapted to barren, hilly and desert regions. You can also find this creature 2,500 ft above sea level. Overall, it prefers soil that is soft and semi-sandy – ideal for digging burrows. It feeds on ants, termites and freshwater. While it does not have any teeth, it does have a long tongue, which it uses to capture its prey. Truly a nature’s wonder, don’t you agree! If you are as fascinated with this creature as we are, you can take inspiration from it and use it to add an interesting texture to your wall. However, do remember to apply primer paint before using wall paint to create a flawless foundation for your walls and get the desired results.
