  1. Have you heard about the 'Zones of Regulation' under colour psychology that helps schools to control and regulate certain impulses and emotions? If not, read on. The brainchild of Leah Kuypers, this concept is used to help individuals relate different zones to different modes of behaviours in various settings. The Red Zone equals a heightened state of emotion, the Green Zone equals a calm though an alert state. The Yellow Zone is a more excitable state of alertness compared to green but not as explosive as red. Lastly is the Blue Zone that equals a feeling of low.

  2. Most of us know that colour makes a difference to how we feel on regular days as well as on days when our senses are heightened due to external or internal stimuli. This case is intensified with those who are diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, Autism and similar such health conditions. Affected individuals have problems with sensory integration due to which colours appear more intense and vibrant. This leads them to become excitable and more hyper. In such cases, it is best to use cool colours and neutral shades in the rooms rather than going for bright reds and yellows. You can explore designer wall paint from Berger Paints India that have a range of shades to calm the mind of such individuals.

Navratri

With Navratri around the corner, let us take a look at the beautiful attires that men and women wear during the festival nights, especially during ‘garba’. While the women wear Chaniya choli, which is a colourful three-piece dress, consisting of a blouse, skirt and dupatta along with ‘bandhni’ dupattas, men usually wear kurta-pyjamas and ‘sherwanis’ or dhoti-kurta with a half-sleeve jacket for a more traditional look. Keeping the mood and extravaganza of the festivities alive, how about giving your home an upgrade with stylish and trendy wall texture design? You can choose from some very interesting and unique designs such as Flora, Autumn, Silver Fire, Moon Rock and Nova. Visit the website of Berger Paints India to know more!

  1. Coral

The gemstone pictured above is known as Coral. Found in many shades of red and pink, this gemstone is devoid of lustre in its natural condition and is mostly opaque. Temperature plays an important role in its growth and colour. Interestingly, the use of Coral as a gemstone is an ancient practice going back to more than 25,000 years ago! Related to the planet Mars, this gemstone is highly recommended by astrologers, jewellers and gem therapists.

It is believed to possess powerful qualities such as imparting courage and helping overcome fear and nervousness to its wearers. You can pay an ode to this wonderful gemstone with a coral shade on your favourite wall. Explore emulsion paints by Berger Paints India and get inspired!

  2. Ammolite

Can you believe that the dazzling gemstone that you are looking at is actually a fossilised shell of an extinct sea creature of the same name? It is, in fact, the truth. Though found all over the world, the ones found only in the Bearpaw Formation in Alberta, Canada, flaunt the brightest colours. Some experts believe that a volcanic eruption may have encased some of the ammonites in ironstone, lending it these unusual colours. This organic, iridescent gemstone flaunts a wide range of colours and patterns and is highly desired for jewellery. Wouldn’t you agree that this gemstone is extremely extraordinary?

Colours & Nature For October 2021

  1. Vermilion Flycatcher

A feathered creature found in a desert landscape, the bird you are looking at is known as the Vermilion Flycatcher. It is exactly what its name suggests: a beautiful red bird that preys on unsuspecting flying insects from perches on fences and shrub tops. The male flaunts a vibrant red plumage with black wings and eye markings. The female is unique and delightful, sporting a subtle grey-brown colour with a warm salmon-red blush on the underparts. The male is known for its high, fluttering flight display by puffing its feathers and by twittering a repetitive song. When a male Vermilion Flycatcher courts a female, it brings gifts, often a butterfly or another flashy insect! This species is common all the way through Central America and most of South America. In fact, this bird is a favourite sighting for many tourists of the Galapagos Islands. You can pay an ode to this beautiful bird while room painting using a similar shade of orange from Berger’s Colour Catalogue.

  2. Pink Anthurium

Did you know that the Pink Anthurium that you see photographed here is also known as the Flamingo flower? Fascinating, isn’t it? This plant is also known as tailflower and pigtail plant. The shiny, tear-drop shaped structure and the protruding spadix, which is actually the real flower of this plant are features that make this plant truly unique. If you love keeping houseplants, you can opt for these pretty tropical blooms or use them in floral arrangements during special occasions.
