Colour Facts For March 2021

  1. When red light coming from a distant star is seen through a spectroscope, an instrument that separates light into different colours, the light we receive continues to move toward the red area of the spectrum, which is considered least powerful. According to scientists, since the light is becoming weaker and weaker, the stars are likely to be traveling away from us. This theory is also the basis of the study that our universe is expanding.

  2. There is more to paint than just aesthetics. We don’t necessarily paint something to just make it look better. We paint cars and automobiles partly to make them look good, but also to protect the metal inside from going rusty. We paint the exteriors of our house to protect it from the sun and rain. In space rockets and airplanes, paint is what protects the structure when air, rushing past at a high-speed causes friction and heat. So, the next time you think of exterior house painting, don’t just factor in the colour, finish and texture but also ensure that the paint offers protection to your home’s structure.

  3. Pigments are responsible for the many beautiful colours known to us today. And plants produce an amazing variety of pigments, far more than animals. The pigments that plants produce help advertise the rewards for birds and insects that pollinate flowers and disperse seeds. The plant pigment chlorophyll is green and responsible for the green colour of leaves and foliage. Carotene is a pigment that absorbs blue and indigo light and provides rich yellow and orange colours in plants and flowers. Flavonoids are the yellow plant pigments seen notably in oranges, grapefruit and lemon.

Colour Tips For March 2021

blue living room
  1. If your living room wall painting includes crisp white walls and the decor is in a more neutral colour, choose one statement item that brings a surge of energy to the space. It can be anything from a vibrant piece of art on the walls to a bright rug like this one in the living room. This will inject a bit of personality and colour to the space and give it a cohesive look. If you usually stick to more neutral tones at home but find yourself generally drawn to bright colour, consider venturing out with an accent wall in dusty rose, navy or forest green.

  2. For the reading corner interior house painting colour, choose a dark colour like this forest green, which will give it a tucked away appeal, especially if you want to get lost in a gripping novel. Alternatively, you can opt for Berger iPaint DIY Wall Stencil in the designs Birdie, Feather or Flora to create a nook any true book lover could curl up for hours on end. To make the area seem like a designated spot, add a floor cushion, pillows, penchant lights, comfortable rug and some fun accents, like wall art or string lights.

  3. In today’s world, setting aside a special corner or even a room of your home that is completely devoted to banishing stressful emotions is more of a necessity than a luxury. While bright, bold colours can be fun, there is something about pastel colours for meditation room wall painting that is oh-so-calming. Even though your eyes will be closed while you meditate, it is important to feel calm and comfortable in the space as soon as you sit down. To truly create a zen space, pick from lavender, pale blue or aqua, or the vast spectrum of soft, pastel colours. Stay away from so-called energising colours like yellow, red and orange.
