Feng Shui for your Aquariums

In Feng Shui, Goldfish are known to represents prosperity and luck. Numbers and colours are important in Feng Shui, and it's no different when it comes to your aquariums. The suggested number of fish in an aquarium according to Feng Shui is nine. The best combinations of nine fish in an aquarium are eight bright-coloured Goldfish or Arrowana fish and one black or darker coloured fish. With the combination of eight red and one black fish, the fish symbolizes energy, prosperity and good fortune.

The Reason behind One Black Fish

A black goldfish is called a black moor. The one black goldfish is extremely important as it absorbs any negative energy that enters your home. Therefore, the black goldfish is symbolic of protection. It is believed that if the black fish dies due to an unknown cause like overfeeding, lack of food or under-oxygenated water, it is because of absorbing bad luck that was meant for you. In fact, several people believe in this theory and remove the dead fish from the tank immediately and replace it as soon as possible. There are plenty of Feng Shui practitioners who give their dead fish a proper burial and offer prayers or mantras for them as well. It is also common knowledge that black fish die more often than other coloured goldfish. However, that is due to biological reasons like poorer vision and inability to compete fairly for food.

The Importance behind the Colour of the Fish

One of the key Feng Shui elements of the fish tank is its colour. You can add red, golden and white-coloured fish for good wealth and fortune. Black, blue and grey can be used to convert negative Feng Shui to positive Feng Shui. When you decide on the colour of fish, remember to get at least one black fish to help you convert negative Feng Shui energy into positive. It is also believed to absorb any residual negative energy from the environment. A good alternative to the nine goldfish is a single arrowana. Their scales glisten like gold and silver, making them even more auspicious.

For those who cannot keep a fish in their home, a picture of a goldfish or a small statue of an arrowana can work as well.

Now that you know that a Feng Shui aquarium is a potent wealth cure, why not try it for your own home?

Power of Colour Crystals in Reiki!

It is believed that the interaction between the stones and chakras helps return the chakra into healthy vibration, thereby healing the part of the body that is affected. During the healing session, these colourful crystals are placed on different areas of the body of the recipient. This way, each chakra is given a boost of its own vibration without changing its energies or the overall harmony of the system.

  1. For the base chakra, choose a red stone to put near the base of the spine. You can also use two red stones of the same sort and rest one near the top of each leg.
  2. For the sacral chakra, pick an orange stone and place it on the lower abdomen.
  3. At the solar plexus, use a yellow stone, placing it between the navel and the ribcage. If there is tension in this area, a tiger's eye or a small clear quartz point can be placed at the diaphragm to help release the tension.
  4. The heart chakra in the centre of the chest can be balanced using a green stone. A pink stone can be added as well for emotional healing.
  5. For the throat chakra, use a light blue stone. Place it at the base of the throat, at the top of the breastbone.
  6. An indigo or dark blue stone is best to balance the brow chakra in the centre of the forehead. Amethyst or another purple stone can also be used.
  7. The stone for the crown chakra rests just above the top of the head. If you used a dark blue stone at the brow, you can use violet stone at the crown. If you pick an amethyst for the brow, use clear quartz at the crown.

It is also advised that while removing the stones once the healing is done, always remove the highest one first, leaving the lowest stone for the last.

Always remember that new stones and used stones need to be cleansed before they can be used again. Cleansing the crystals remove unwanted energy and restores them to their original clarity. It is essential that you clean them after every healing session for it to remain effective as it may pass on imbalances and prove useless in the next session.

To clean the stones, use dry sea salt in a small container and bury the crystal for a period of 24 hours. Don't use salt water as this damages softer stones. Alternatively, you can hold the crystals under running water for a minute and then place them in the sun to dry.

We hope this article helped you understand the power of colour and its impact on the overall well-being of an individual!

Vaastu For March 2017

Vaastu for your Guest Room!

'Athiti devo bhavah' is a Sanskrit verse which literally translates to 'The guest is God'. In India, this verse has been the code of conduct for over centuries and just like the other rooms in the house, the guest room needs to be created keeping Vaastu in mind.

Best Directions for Guest Room

The best location for the guest room is in the northwest direction. If this is not possible, the second best options are south and southeast. However, remember not to build the room in the southwest as this is a direction which is reserved for the head of the house only, as per Vaastu. Building a guest room here can create trouble in the house. You also need to consider the direction of the door of the guest room when designing the room. The most ideal choices are the northeast door, facing the east direction; northeast door, facing north direction; southeast door, facing south direction and northwest door, facing west direction.

If the guest room is situated at 'vayavya' (northwest) corner, you must provide a window at the northeast corner, towards the north or in the west.

If the guest room is situated at 'agneya' corner, you need to keep a window at south or southeast direction. According to the principles of Vaastu Shastra, it is totally up to you to decide whether to provide an attached bathroom or not.

Best Colours for Guest Room

The most suitable colours to use in the guest room are white, coral red, cream, lilac, light blue, peach, green and light shades of pink. Remember to use soothing shades as it is liked by most. These colours are believed to maintain peace and harmony in the house. It is also a great idea to use such uplifting shades as accent points.

Try to keep the décor of the room minimal, sober and aesthetically appealing. Avoid trendy and funky décor for the room as not all your guests will like it. Remember to match the bed sheets with the colour of the wall. You can opt for velvet fabric instead of synthetic fabric while setting up the room.

We hope this article helps you with useful Vaastu tips for your guest room and helps you foster harmonious relationship with your guests.
