Exterior Paint Image

You can paint the interiors of your house in any season. However, for exterior house painting, you have to take the weather conditions and moisture level in consideration for a job well done. So, painting the exterior of your house is not a task that can be done at just about any time of the year. You need to adjust your project around the weather and look for the best conditions to ensure a seamless job.

If you are thinking of painting your home’s exteriors, here are some factors you need to keep in mind. We would, however, like to add here that choosing the right paints and services for an exterior paint job is a crucial step.

Best paints for exterior painting:

It can be tricky to decide the best exterior paints since understanding their technical specifications may be confusing. To make it easier, we suggest using paints that are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and specifically used for exterior walls.

If you live in a dry place, Berger Paints Walmasta is a good choice. It is a water-based exterior emulsion that gives your exterior walls better protection. It is a great upgrade from cement coatings. It also has high resistance to cracking and peeling.

If you have a lot of construction work going on around where you live, you will have to deal with construction dust on a daily basis. In this case, we recommend Berger Paints WeatherCoat Anti Dustt. It features a unique and innovative technology that does not allow dust to stick to your exterior walls. Dust is not just harmful to your wellbeing, but for your walls it could become an ideal breeding ground for dust mites, resulting into black patches and ruining the aesthetic value of your home exteriors.

For extreme weather conditions, go for Berger Paints WeatherCoat Smooth since it offers unparalleled resistance to harsh weather. It not just maintains a stronger bond with the surface you are painting, but also comes with unique dust repellent properties to wash off dust with every rain. With a rich soft sheen finish, it enhances the beauty of your home.

Best weather for exterior painting:

The southwest monsoon winds bring heavy rains to most of India from June until September every year. The high level of moisture in the season can compromise the paints ability to dry. Avoid rainy days and season altogether and ensure all surfaces are dry before starting an exterior paint job.

Look for months that give you dry days. Major fluctuations from day to night temperatures can cause the paint to crack and peel, so winter time offers the best weather conditions for exterior paint. It is a good idea to look for the weather forecast around the day you decide to paint your exteriors. If it rains right after the application, it might be disastrous and cause fading and discolouration. Allow your exterior walls to dry completely before carrying out a paint job.

Why winter is a good time for exterior house painting:

• Less humidity

For exterior house painting, winters offer the best conditions. The humidity is likely to be low unless you live in a place that experiences snowfall. More humidity in the air may result in peeling of the paint or cracking in the future. Since during winters, the moisture in the air usually low, it allows the paint to stick and create a better bond with the walls. Painting during high-humidity weather or rainy seasons makes it difficult for the paint to dry evenly and properly, resulting in reducing the overall lifetime of the paint.

• The weather conditions

Summers and rainy season is not a good time for an exterior paint job and this is a no brainer! Monsoons might be too wet for a paint job to be carried out and summers might be too hot and muggy. After all, no one wants to be stuck out carrying out an exterior house painting while it is raining or scorching outside. Winter is the perfect time in India, since most places experience mild to pleasant weather and minimum snow fall, unless you live up in the North. So, why not use this time of the year to schedule a home improvement project that you have been thinking about? Good weather conditions also reduce the time required for the paint job to be done.

Important things to remember for exterior house painting:

• Do your research

Some contractors might try to stretch the painting season as much as possible and recommend painting even if the weather conditions are not ideal. Make sure that the weather is dry, with no major fluctuations in the temperature for a seamless and immaculate painting job. A day with no rain, usual temperature and low wind is your best time for exterior house painting. This ensures a hassle-free paint job and consistent finish.

• Don’t compromise on the quality

Ideally, an exterior paint job should last for at least five years, but by using quality paints, it can last for over 10 years without a retouch. Berger Paints has diverse solutions for exteriors of your house, so if you are looking for waterproofing, antifungal and anti-dust exterior emulsions, it is a one-stop-solution for all your exterior home painting requirements. Moreover, with innovative products and a 10-year warranty on paint, the exterior emulsions are a safe bet.

• Get professional help

Certain home improvement projects require a professional— home exterior paint job is one of them. Painting is more difficult than you think. It is not just about applying a fresh coat of paint but you need to factor in so many elements: waterproofing, levelling, plaster repair, proper protection and emulsions to ensure a good finish etc. Moreover, painting contractors tend to be local so they have the right information about the best conditions, effects of the weather etc. Exterior painting might also put you at risk of accidents by falling from higher floors and if you are not a professional—it is not worth doing job yourself to save on some money.

To conclude, painting your house requires proper planning, just like for any big home improvement project. And with winter approaching soon, we recommend getting a consultation for your home exterior wall painting project that you have been itching to start. If you are looking for painting service, contact Berger Paints painting professionals for a hassle-free and smooth painting experience.

Taking the weather into account when painting the exterior of your house is a really important thing for sure. If you try and paint the place when it’s raining or at least a little humid, it could really affect the overall drying process of the paint. I’ll keep that in mind when I work with a painting contractor so we can choose the best time to properly work on our home.
