What is Vaastu?

Indian Vaastu Theory for Colors Vaastu is a profound science of structures, which was in vogue thousands of years ago. The word Vaastu means 'dwelling'. In the modern context it covers all buildings irrespective of their use like residences, industries, business establishments, lodges, hotels etc.

Vaastu Sastra or the science of Vaastu is the guidelines given by the Supreme Being. It tells us how to avoid disappointments, diseases and disasters by living in structures, which allow a positive cosmic field to be present in the dwelling.

Relevance of Colours in Vaastu

Role of colours ...

Colours render an effect on the viewers in different ways.

  • Crimson or Red is the color of aggression, passion, celebration and joy.
  • Blue indicates spiritual growth and infinity.
  • Green symbolizes vitality and prosperity.
  • Yellow indicates spiritual awakening, birth and growth.
  • Black indicates austerity and penance.
  • White indicates purity and piety.

Colours can set the mood of your living room, they can be either inviting or irritating. Colours have psychological effects on people and their moods. If you want your living area to be warm and inviting, use shades of Gold as it is one of the warmest and most relaxing Colours. Whatever colour you pick for the colour of your walls, make your carpets and furniture coordinated.

The bedroom is a very private room, where an individual's taste and preference in colours is very apparent. A child's bedroom would be far different from the parent's room. The parents room would have more pastel colours to go with softer furnishings - while the child is more likely to have bright shades on the wall to go with bright posters, quite likely loud music, television and computer.

  • Red or pink for the South­east zone
